For hairstylist Anthony Turner, styling model Angelina Kendall for her debut on the January 2025 cover of Vogue was an unforgettable experience. “Doing a photoshoot on a busy London street is always full of surprises,” Turner laughs. “It was amazing to see how the public reacted to Angelina – everyone was so fascinated, it was really cute!”
Captured both outdoors on a vibrant London street and inside a studio, Kendall sported two contrasting hairstyles. Outside, she wore effortlessly tousled waves, giving off a laid-back, cool-girl vibe. Inside, her hair was styled with high-volume roots in a sleek, glamorous updo. Turner explains that the two different looks were inspired by their distinct locations. “For the outside shots, I wanted her hair to feel natural and free. But inside, I aimed to create a more glamorous, confident look.”
To achieve the beachy waves for the outdoor look, Turner relied on Kendall’s naturally textured hair. “She has amazing texture, so I applied Moroccanoil Curl Cream to her damp hair and dried it using a diffuser,” he explains. For the voluminous updo, he needed more product and precision. “I used Schwarzkopf Volume Mousse generously, then blow-dried with a round brush. After that, I set the hair with a curling iron.” Turner then teased Kendall’s roots and pinned her hair back to create a bouffant bob. “What made the look so special were the little ‘imperfections’ – the mistakes while pinning her hair added character and made it even better,” he adds.
The shoot, which took place at Piccadilly Circus, likely turned a few heads. However, for Londoners, it might have seemed like just another day in the bustling city. “Shooting on a London street gives you a glimpse of the real city, with its eclectic and eccentric characters,” Turner says. “It reminds me of why I love living here.”
