A school year spans 180 days, with each day bringing unique moments that make no two schools exactly alike. Students, teachers, and school cultures differ, creating distinct experiences across educational communities.
At Mount Vernon High School, students from the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department showcased this individuality through their “Pink Hair for the Cure” fundraiser, held in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Students from the cosmetology, culinary, and nursing programs collaborated to create items for the event. They made pink hair extensions, ribbon-shaped pink cookies, and wearable ribbons. The hair extensions were sold for $5 each, while the cookies were priced at $2. All proceeds from the fundraiser will support a local charity dedicated to breast cancer awareness and support.
