SEOUL, South Korea, Oct. 30, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — AesMed Co., Ltd., a leading hair loss treatment company in South Korea, is set to participate in Cosmoprof Asia Hong Kong 2024. This major B2B trade fair for the beauty industry will take place from November 13 to 15, 2024, at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. The event serves as a key platform for global beauty leaders to showcase new technologies, products, and solutions.
At Cosmoprof Asia, AesMed will prominently promote its nonprofit initiative, Hair Care Day 2024. This campaign seeks to raise awareness about hair loss treatment and instill confidence in those affected by hair loss. Symbolically, it represents the journey from hair loss, marked by “1011,” to a full head of hair, represented by “1111.” Each year, the period from October 11 to November 11 is designated as “Hair Care Season,” with November 11 recognized as “Hair Care Day.”
A recent South Korean government survey revealed that hair loss has affected over 20% more people in the last decade. Notably, 63% of individuals aged 20 to 40 have reported symptoms of hair loss, and women account for 44% of those affected. Additionally, 6.6% of adolescents are now experiencing hair loss, highlighting that the issue spans all age groups. Despite the growing concern over hair loss, there remains a lack of collective efforts to combat the stigma and improve understanding around the issue. This gap inspired AesMed to create the Hair Care Day campaign.
Launched in South Korea in 2020, the campaign will expand in 2024 to include local hospitals and partners from ten countries worldwide. It aims to support individuals with hair loss without commercial motives while promoting the sharing of treatment technologies. During the trade fair, AesMed plans to share the campaign’s significance and achievements, encouraging participation from hospitals, companies, research institutions, and community organizations.
CEO Jeongwoo Joe Yi remarked, “Cosmoprof Asia is the largest beauty fair in the region, drawing buyers from various countries. This is a great opportunity to showcase the Hair Care Day campaign globally and collaborate with more partners.” He expressed hope that by raising awareness of hair loss treatments, AesMed can positively impact those affected.
Experts are backing the Hair Care Day campaign. Dr. Jin-O Kim from NewHair Hair Transplant Center emphasized, “The idea of filling in what is missing resonates with us, and our hospital supports the Hair Care Season from 1011 to 1111. Our medical staff is dedicated to providing positive support to our patients.” Dr. Yoon-Woo Noh from Maxwell Dermatology Hair Clinic added, “Hair loss is manageable. Most cases can be effectively treated with a proper diagnosis.” He believes Hair Care Day will significantly enhance public understanding of hair loss treatment.
Additionally, AesMed has been running a hair prosthesis donation project for individuals with alopecia since 2020. The company also plans to participate in the WCHR2026 World Congress for Hair Research in Seoul in May 2026. This conference will bring together hair researchers from around the world to share the latest findings and technologies in hair loss treatment. Through this participation, AesMed aims to strengthen its role as a global leader in hair loss treatment, promote the Hair Care Day campaign, and enhance societal awareness and technological advancements in this field.
