KH Hair, a salon in Arnold, is working to ensure that local children can enjoy the excitement of opening gifts on Christmas morning. The salon is partnering with the Salvation Army for its Christmas Present Appeal.
Salon manager Helen Stilwell explained, “We are launching this initiative to encourage our clients and the local community to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.” She highlighted the need for new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children of all ages who may not otherwise receive presents this holiday season. The salon will wrap the donated gifts and distribute them to those in need.
Last year, the Salvation Army successfully distributed over 76,000 gifts across the UK through its Christmas appeal. However, this year, the number of families seeking assistance is expected to increase due to the ongoing cost of living crisis. The appeal also welcomes donations of items for adults, such as winter clothing, toiletries, and non-perishable food.
Major Janice Lahouel, leader of the Salvation Army in Arnold, stated, “We work with agencies and schools to identify those most in need. We are already noticing a potential rise in the number of gifts required this year.” She assured that the donations would directly support local families in need.
Helen added, “This appeal reflects our commitment to bringing joy and comfort to families who may struggle during the festive season. Your generosity can help ensure that everyone feels the warmth and spirit of giving this Christmas.”
Donations can be dropped off at KH Hair on Arnold High Street until Friday, November 29.
