Rachel Reeves U-Turns Again, Calls Red Hair Dye ‘A Mistake’

by Barbara

Rachel Reeves has made another surprising change after telling friends she regretted dyeing her hair red.

This month, the Chancellor turned heads in Westminster when she traded her sleek black bob for a softer copper-toned hairstyle. However, with the Budget approaching, she has returned to a chestnut shade closer to her natural color. The 45-year-old is set to make history on Wednesday as the first woman to deliver a Budget in the UK.

Sources say Reeves wanted a fresh look for this significant occasion. However, she quickly expressed dissatisfaction with her new hair color, which was meant to be lighter but instead transformed her into a redhead overnight. One friend remarked, “It was a mistake.”

In an interview with the Observer, Ms. Reeves confidently stated that her upcoming Budget would be comparable to Labour’s most notable economic achievements, including the efforts of the Attlee government to rebuild the economy after World War II. She described her motivation as “really personal,” recalling her experience at a state secondary school in inner London, where the sixth form consisted of just a few temporary buildings in the playground.

“I felt very strongly that the governments of Thatcher and Major didn’t care very much about schools like mine, the communities I grew up in, and the kids I went to school with,” she said. “Being able to rebuild schools fulfills what I came into politics for.”

As she prepares for the Budget, Ms. Reeves has emphasized her background with the Bank of England, where she briefly worked after university. Former Bank governor Mervyn King acknowledged that she was only a “junior economist” at the institution but praised her intellect, stating she was “very tough” and “forthright.” He remarked on Sky News that she left a strong impression during her time there.
