James Haskell has shared the initial results of his ‘preventative’ hair transplant after undergoing the procedure earlier this week. The former England rugby star, 39, was seen leaving Restore Hair Clinic on Harley Street on Tuesday, wearing a blue hospital gown with his head freshly shaved and marked from the hair restoration process.
On Thursday, Haskell posted an update on his Instagram, showing a photo of himself in his car with his hair beginning to grow back. He expressed his satisfaction with the recovery, complimenting the doctor responsible for the transplant, Dr. Raghur Reddy. In his post, he wrote, “New hair day! Day 1 recovery is going well! What a job @drraghureddy has done. The best in the game.”
Earlier this week, at an event in Newcastle, Haskell disclosed that he received the hair transplant offer for free and decided to take advantage of it. The clinic describes its treatment as “a cutting-edge, minimally invasive surgery” performed by experienced surgeons.
Haskell has openly discussed his insecurities about his thinning hairline. Two years ago, he admitted he was considering professional help for his hair. “Would I have cosmetic surgery? Probably, if I need it,” he said. He also mentioned, “I’m going to get my hair sorted out at some point because it’s thinning.”
In his 2020 book, What a Flanker, Haskell touched on male pattern baldness. He reflected on how men often ridicule others for hair loss while being sensitive about it themselves. “I look back on teammates that I grilled about their hair and think what a p**** I was, now I am heading, albeit slowly, the same way,” he wrote.
Haskell’s hair transplant comes at a time when he is back in the dating scene following his split from Chloe Madeley last year. Earlier this year, he was seen getting cozy with a mystery woman during a night out in London. A source commented on the outing, saying, “James looked like he was having a jolly time surrounded by friends and women. They seemed to be really getting on and were laughing together.”
James and Chloe, 37, announced their separation in October 2023 after ten years together, including five years of marriage and a two-year-old daughter named Bodhi. The couple’s split had been anticipated for months, especially after Chloe was seen without her wedding ring.
Recently, Chloe described their relationship as friendly on Olivia Attwood’s So Wrong It’s Right podcast. She stated, “James and I were really good friends. We don’t work together romantically, but we do work as friends.” She added that they often spend time together as a family, including Sunday lunches.
Chloe’s father, Richard Madeley, noted that the two maintain a “very civilized relationship,” revealing that they recently traveled to France together. He described their post-separation relationship as a “very happy uncoupling.”
Reflecting on their separation, Chloe admitted that their relationship improved once they were no longer romantically involved. She explained that they have become more respectful toward each other and enjoy their time together as friends.
In contrast, Chloe described her separation from her estranged husband as “f***ing awful,” stating that the relationship had been “miserable.”
