Travis Kelce Unveils Mullet in Unexpected and Grotesque Hair Transformation

by Barbara

Travis Kelce is making headlines with his new hairstyle! The Kansas City Chiefs tight end was spotted on Thursday, October 17, as he stepped into character for FX’s latest horror series, Grotesquerie.

The official Instagram account for the show posted a caption that read, “Nothing is what it seems,” but this was crossed out and replaced with, “𝙽𝚘 𝚘𝚗𝚎 𝚒𝚜 𝚠𝚑𝚘 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚢 𝚜𝚎𝚎𝚖.” The post concluded by noting that “Episode 7 of FX’s Grotesquerie is now streaming on Hulu.”

In a clip from the show, Kelce portrays nurse Ed Laclan. He starts off looking like his usual self with his signature buzz cut, a style that could land him a spot in PEOPLE’s 2024 Sexiest Man Alive list. However, he surprises viewers by covering the camera lens, only to reveal a dramatic transformation featuring a mullet hairstyle.

Social media users reacted to his new look, with one commenter joking, “WHAT IN THE BILLY RAY. We want nurse Travis back lol.” Kelce completed his outfit with a brown leather bomber jacket over a plaid button-down shirt, giving off serious lumberjack vibes, paired with blue denim jeans.

The three-time Super Bowl champion made his debut in Grotesquerie during episode three, starring alongside Niecy Nash-Betts (Detective Lois Tryon) and Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Father Charlie Mayhew). The show’s premise revolves around a series of disturbing crimes that shake a small community. Detective Lois Tryon believes these crimes are personal and feel as if someone—or something—is taunting her.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Murphy, the show’s co-creator, confirmed a fan theory that many Taylor Swift fans noticed after Kelce’s appearance. Murphy revealed that the scene where Kelce and Nash-Betts escape a hospital in a getaway car is “a little Taylor Swift nod.” This reference comes after Kelce and Swift went public with their romance last October. Swift’s 2017 album Reputation features a song titled “Getaway Car.”

While Kelce’s mullet has sparked conversations, his real-life hairstyle is also generating buzz. His mother, Donna Kelce, shared her thoughts on his new look during Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards in New York City on October 8. “I like it. He’s always had very, very, very short hair. It’s just different, that’s all,” she told PEOPLE.
