Women Alerted to Hair Washing Error That Leads to ‘Moisture Loss and Frizz’

by Barbara

There is ongoing debate about how frequently people should wash their hair, with recommendations varying based on hair type and texture.

In an interview with GB News, hair expert Mariana Eidelkind, founder of Oblique House of Hair, advised against washing hair too often. She explained that even high-quality conditioning shampoos can strip hair of its natural oils, leaving it dry and weak.

Eidelkind recommends washing hair no more than three times a week for the healthiest appearance. “Washing your hair too frequently can remove its natural oils, causing moisture loss and frizz,” she said. “Aim to wash your hair two to three times a week at most.”

For those with oily hair, dry shampoo may seem like a quick fix between washes, but Eidelkind cautions that it can also lead to damage. “Try to avoid dry shampoo, as it can dehydrate your hair and leave residue on your scalp,” she advised. Instead, she suggests using a boar hairbrush to spread the natural oils from the scalp throughout the hair. This method can help with oily roots and dry ends, especially on the third day after washing.

While boar hairbrushes can be beneficial for distributing oils, Eidelkind noted that they might not be suitable for all hair types.

For individuals who feel the need to wash their hair more frequently, professional treatments can help maintain cleanliness while minimizing damage. Eidelkind recommends a weekly scalp spa treatment, which exfoliates the scalp and protects its natural properties. This treatment helps eliminate excess oil and buildup while infusing the scalp with detoxifying ingredients, like celery seed extract, to reduce sebum production.

In addition to these tips, Eidelkind shared six essential hair care strategies to keep hair looking its best. She emphasized the “number one” rule for achieving smooth, voluminous locks and offered advice on reducing frizz. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of protecting hair from harsh weather conditions, especially during the autumn and winter months.
