Canadian country music star Shania Twain surprised fans at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards in Nashville with a new look. Known for her iconic album covers, Twain arrived with a 60s-style short blonde hairstyle and a denim outfit reminiscent of Barbie, almost going unrecognized.
The singer, who has sold over 100 million records and is a leader in the 90s country-pop crossover, told E! News about her bold transformation, “Isn’t it crazy? I love it.” She was involved in every aspect of the design process, from sketches to silhouettes, and found joy in being part of it.
Twain, 59, wore a figure-hugging denim dress with dazzling details that sparkled under the bright lights. She accessorized minimally, with a chunky ring and elbow-length denim gloves with rhinestone embellishments. Her makeup was glamorous for the event, with mascara, shimmering bronze eyeshadow, warm blush, and a nude lip tint.
The platinum-selling artist is hosting the awards ceremony at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. She expressed excitement about meeting Shaboozey, a modern country star she admires, and plans to tell him how much his music makes her smile.
Shaboozey, whose real name is Collins Obinna Chibueze, is nominated for several awards, including New Artist of 2024 and Song of 2024 for “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” Zach Bryan leads the nominations with 19, while Beyonce follows with 17 nods after her country album ‘Cowboy Carter.’
In an interview with Billboard, Twain described hosting the event as a “full-circle experience,” connecting her to her beginnings in Nashville. She emphasized her role as a fan, excited to be in the middle of it all and meet new artists.
Twain admitted she might get carried away with the microphone and end up rambling, but she’s more excited than nervous. She anticipates the night will go by quickly and is looking forward to the adrenaline and meeting artists she hasn’t met yet.
