FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) — A local mother, connected to Children With Hair Loss, donated her hair on Thursday in response to a coworker’s recent cancer diagnosis.
In 2022, Olivia Cummins was diagnosed with leukemia and lost her hair during treatment. Her mother recalls that Olivia received a wig from Children With Hair Loss, a nonprofit that provides wigs for children facing hair loss due to medical conditions.
On Thursday, the Cummins family collaborated with Children With Hair Loss again, this time to donate hair instead of receiving a wig. This donation is in honor of a coworker of Cummins’ mother, who has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.
For anyone interested in donating their hair to Children With Hair Loss, a new opportunity will be available in Fort Wayne soon. Next Thursday, CoCo and Ash Salon will host free haircut appointments from 5 to 7 p.m. The donated hair will be transformed into wigs for those in need.
