Morehead State University, located in Morehead, Kentucky, has introduced a vending machine stocked with hair and hygiene products. This new addition is part of the Living Curls College Beauty Supply initiative, aimed at providing essential beauty and wellness items to college students.
While the Living Curls initiative is active on four college campuses, Morehead State has become the first public university to install this vending machine, offering convenient access to hair care and hygiene products.
Taunya Jones, special events planning manager at Morehead State, highlighted the significance of this initiative for students. “As an African American student here in Eastern Kentucky, it was always a struggle to take care of my hair when I couldn’t find the products locally,” Jones shared.
The idea for the vending machine came to Jones after reading an article about Melanie Day’s Hair Care Machine at Transylvania University. “A year ago, I came across the article in the Lexington Herald-Leader. From that day on, I have been working to bring her here to Morehead State’s campus,” Jones added.
