Edith Aguirre first noticed grey hairs in her teens. Feeling self-conscious, she associated greying with aging and decided to start dyeing her hair. In 1981, just before her school prom, she used her first bottle of dye. Over the years, she maintained her dyed look, touching up her roots every two weeks.
However, Edith’s perspective changed as she grew older. She decided to embrace her natural grey hair and celebrate her true self. Now 61, the retired realtor from California is often told she looks like she has “aged backwards.” Edith, who appeared on the reality TV show “Golden Bachelor,” recently shared her experience of ditching the dye in an Instagram video with her 22,000 followers.
In the video, Edith described the switch as liberating. “I was 40 and had been dyeing my hair for over twenty years,” she said. “Now at 61, I regret dyeing my hair all those years.” Her decision to embrace her greys has been met with admiration. Fans have praised her for her natural beauty, with comments calling her a “positive aging role model,” “stunning,” and full of “class and grace.”
