Oasis Reunion Could Spark Mod Hair Trend, Says Hairdresser

by Barbara

Oasis’ reunion has stirred excitement on social media, with fans joking about reviving their iconic 90s haircuts for the band’s upcoming shows. But is the classic Oasis “mod cut” making a genuine comeback, or is it just a nostalgic trend?

Many fans on X (formerly Twitter) are playfully announcing their plans to get the famous haircut before summer 2025. This has sparked speculation that Manchester might soon see a wave of 90s-inspired hairstyles.

Miles Wood-Smith, Master Barber and Creative Director at Murdock London, predicts a resurgence of the mod cut. He commented, “With the buzz around the possible Oasis reunion, it’s likely the 90s mod haircut will become popular again. This style is classic and versatile, especially as we approach Autumn 2025. The mod cut’s adaptability makes it a great choice for those wanting a modern twist on a timeless look.”

Wood-Smith also issued a caution for those eager to embrace the retro style. “Effective communication with your barber is crucial,” he advised. “Ensure you are completely satisfied with the plan before any cutting begins, as it’s challenging to fix mistakes once the hair is cut.”

For those interested in the mod cut, Wood-Smith described it as a 60s classic that is returning with renewed popularity. “A traditional mod cut features shorter sides with a straight fringe and volume on top. There are many variations in length and texture, so it’s essential to customize the cut to your needs. Bringing pictures to your barber can help avoid miscommunication.”

He added that the mod cut is particularly flattering for people with oval or square face shapes. However, those with thinning hair on top might want to reconsider, as the style can emphasize thinning areas.

Cosmetologist Ghanima Abdullah also anticipates a revival of the mod cut due to Oasis’ resurgence. She noted, “The Oasis-style haircut will likely trend again as the band reunites. It resembles recent popular cuts like the wolf cut but is styled to frame the face with a messy, ruffled appearance. This 60s Beatles-inspired look is set to make a comeback.”
