Hulu’s “The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat,” premiering August 23, boasts an iconic cast. Directed by Tina Mabry, the film stars Aunjanue Ellis, Uzo Aduba, and Sanaa Lathan. Adapted from Edward Kelsey Moore’s best-selling novel, it follows the lives and enduring friendship of three women known as “The Supremes” across two generations. Kyanna Simone, who plays the younger version of Ellis’ character, recently discussed her excitement for the film and shared some beauty insights.
What are you most excited for fans to see when the film debuts?
“I’m thrilled! This movie is a feel-good experience. It’s the kind of film you’ll want to watch with family and friends. It’ll make you laugh, cry, and interact with the characters as if you’ve known them forever. That’s what excites me!”
What was the most challenging part of your role?
“While not necessarily challenging, I focused on highlighting the delicate nuances of Odette, who has a tough exterior but is still a young girl seeking love just as much as she gives it.”
Can you share any standout glam moments from the set?
“Andrea Jackson and Dionne Wynn dedicated a lot of effort to Odette’s look. My favorite was the curly hair with bangs—it’s youthful and complements Odette’s bold personality. The hair and makeup trailer was where we started each day, setting a positive tone with singing and dancing. It was also where we had our most meaningful conversations.”
What are your essential hair and skincare products?
“I use Cécred on my hair; it’s one of the few products that keeps my curls vibrant and shiny all day. For my skin, I rely on L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation—it provides long-lasting coverage.”
What projects are you working on this fall?
“I’m planning a trip abroad, aiming to visit an African country for the first time. I also just finished filming ‘Eenie Meanie,’ and I’m excited for everyone to see it!”
Is there anything you hope to achieve before Labor Day?
“I’d love to meet Beyoncé, a long-time dream of mine. I’m hopeful that it will happen soon.”
