Hair care isn’t limited to just shampoos, conditioners, and oils. Hair specialists are now highlighting the benefits of hair masks, emphasizing their transformative effects on maintaining healthy, hydrated hair.
Experts at luxury hair extension brand Roxy Hair have identified hair masks as a key tool for boosting hair hydration. They point out that, unlike regular conditioners, hair masks offer unique advantages, particularly in strengthening hair. This helps reduce frizz and prevent split ends, making hair masks a valuable addition to any hair care routine.
“Hair masks are excellent for strengthening hair, which reduces frizz and prevents split ends,” the specialists stated. They recommended incorporating hair masks into your next hair wash day if they aren’t already part of your routine.
The experts advise applying hair masks immediately after shampooing to maximize their restorative properties. “Apply the product generously from roots to tips, ensuring you gently massage it into your scalp,” they instructed.
For optimal results, hair masks can be left on for longer than standard conditioners, though the experts caution against leaving them on overnight. “Leave the hair mask on for about three to five minutes before rinsing,” they suggested. “For visibly dehydrated or damaged hair, you can extend the time to 10 to 15 minutes. However, avoid leaving a hair mask on overnight, as it can result in greasy-looking hair.”
The specialists generally recommend using hair masks once a week during warmer weather to avoid over-hydration.
In addition to hair masks, another technique gaining popularity is double shampooing. The experts noted that this trend, which involves applying shampoo twice during a single wash, has gone viral on social media. “The first wash breaks down stubborn impurities, while the second ensures they are thoroughly rinsed away,” they explained. This method is especially effective for cleansing the scalp and preventing dandruff.
