During a SiriusXM NFL Radio town hall on August 13, Patrick Mahomes revealed that his Kansas City Chiefs teammate, Travis Kelce, has changed his hairstyle under the influence of his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
Mahomes, 28, jokingly noted that Kelce, 34, grew out his hair because of Swift, who is also 34. “I’ve been trying to get him to grow his hair out, and suddenly Taylor gets him to do it,” Mahomes said about Kelce.
Kelce had sported a buzz cut for most of the summer but debuted a longer style when he returned to training camp in late July. Swift is reportedly a fan of Kelce’s new look. Kelce’s barber, Patrick Regan, shared with Fox News that Swift had also praised Kelce’s previous shorter hairstyle.
“Taylor loves the haircut. She has watched me cut his hair several times and always gives compliments,” Regan said in February.
In addition to his changing hairstyles, Kelce has been known for his bold fashion choices. His mother, Donna Kelce, mentioned on The Martha Stewart Podcast that Kelce has always been a “fashionista.” She highlighted that his personal image and style are very important to him.
“But not so much to be perfect,” Donna Kelce said in May. “It’s more about putting a smile on people’s faces. He dresses to make people laugh or talk and enjoys being in the spotlight.”
Despite his success, Kelce admits to being his harshest critic. He told reporters in July, “I’m my own worst critic. I know immediately when I’ve made a mistake and what I need to do to improve.”
Kelce emphasized the importance of continually striving for improvement, even after successful plays.
