Fans accuse De Bruyne of copying Haaland’s hairstyle

Kevin De Bruyne made a surprising return to Manchester City training on Tuesday with a new hairstyle that drew comparisons to teammate Erling Haaland.

De Bruyne, who had been given extra time off after competing in Euro 2024, arrived at City’s Etihad Campus sporting a fresh look. The club captured his arrival in a video showing him walking from the car park to the main building.

Someone off-camera exclaims, “oooooo top knot” at De Bruyne, who replies, “I need to cut my hair.”

The new hairstyle quickly caught the attention of fans on social media, with many noting its resemblance to Haaland’s signature style. Comments on Instagram included, “Erling Bruyne” and “Haaland effect is really effective,” while a tweet described him as a “handsome version of Haaland.”

This is not the first time De Bruyne has mirrored a teammate’s hairstyle. Earlier in the 2023-24 season, he was seen sporting a look similar to Jack Grealish’s after returning from an injury.

Although De Bruyne did not participate in City’s pre-season matches, he might be available for the Community Shield against Manchester United on Saturday. This match will be a rematch of last season’s FA Cup final, which United won 2-1.

Following the Community Shield, City will kick off their Premier League title defense with an away game against Chelsea eight days later.
