Known for her ever-evolving on-screen transformations, Nicole Kidman is gearing up for her most dramatic makeover yet in her latest role. Today, Prime Video offered a sneak peek at “Expats,” a limited series slated to hit screens in 2024. In this highly anticipated show, which boasts an ensemble cast including Sarayu Blue, Ji-young Yoo, Brian Tee, Jack Huston, Ruby Ruiz, and Amelyn Pardenilla, the Oscar-winning actress and AMC ambassador will surprise fans with a striking, jaw-length blonde hairstyle.
Prime Video describes the six-part limited series as an adaptation of Janice Y. K. Lee’s best-selling novel, “The Expatriates.” With luminaries like Kidman, Blue (“Never Have I Ever”), and Yoo (“Smoking Tigers”) on board, it’s no wonder that the renowned filmmaker Lulu Wang (“The Farewell”) is both producing and directing.
Set against the backdrop of the “dynamic tapestry of 2014 Hong Kong,” the series revolves around the lives of three American women – Margaret (portrayed by Nicole Kidman), Hilary (played by Sarayu Blue), and Mercy (brought to life by Ji-young Yoo) – who find themselves united in the face of an unforeseen family tragedy. The first images from the series capture Kidman in a distinctive translucent purple setting, sporting her jaw-grazing bob with elegance.
The world will get a glimpse of “Expats” when it premieres an episode at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8th. Beyond her acting prowess, Kidman has also taken on the role of executive producer for the series.
