The Lost Kitten’s Critical Condition
The sweet little feline was found next to Thoa Bui’s co-worker’s house, and her heart broke when she found her all alone. But the thing about taking in stray animals, especially kittens, is that sometimes they aren’t necessarily abandoned even if you find them all alone.
But since she had taken care of kitties and puppies before, she was able to tell the signs of whether they should step in or not. Thoa explained to ABC News that it was clear to them all that this baby cat was “malnourished, lethargic, and dying”.
What to Do When You Find a Stray Animal on the Streets
There’s no doubt that it’s important that you are an experienced animal rescuer before you take any type of stray animal into your care. So if you’re not experienced or equipped to handle the situation on your own, the first and best step to do is to call the nearest animal shelter for some aid.
Also, to be sure that the street animal you have found is truly abandoned or not, it’s a good idea to monitor them for a few hours first. Sometimes a mother will leave their liter to go get food, and will soon return to take care of.
But it didn’t seem like this was the case for this lost kitten.
Collecting the Critical Kitten
Did you know that separating a baby animal from their liter and mother can be even more traumatic to them than if you left them alone on the street? That’s why it’s crucial to tend to strays and stay a safe distance from them so that they don’t run away from where their mother has left them.
But it was apparent to the expert animal rescuer that this kitty was in need for critical care and was lost on the streets, so Thoa collected her home and immediately tended to her.
