Helen McCrory was initially cast as Bellatrix Lestrange, but turned the role down because she was pregnant at the time. The actress eventually joined the franchise as her sister Narcissa and mother of Draco Malfoy. She supported Lord Voldemort just like everyone in her family, but decided to turn her back on him at the very last moment, saving Harry’s life. Making sure her son was safe and sound was more important for Narcissa than witnessing Voldemort’s victory at the end of the Battle of Hogwarts.

Shortly after the last Harry Potter movie wrapped up, McCrory appeared in two big hits – James Bond’s Skyfall and Martin Scorsese’s Hugo. She mostly focused on TV later on, starring in hit shows Penny Dreadful and Peaky Blinders.
