The Sound Of Music – Good Luck!
As the Von Trapp family are pushing their car out of the gates of the house they are suddenly stopped by Nazis. After some tense moments, Herr Detweiler is allowed to take part in the music festival and as Maria and the Captain go to the front of the car he gives them the fingers crossed “good luck” sign.
This crossed fingers sign, while popular in most English-speaking countries, is actually not how people signal good luck to each other in many German-speaking parts of the world. Rather, Detweiler should have pressed his thumbs, also known as the “Daumen drücken.”
Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade – Historical Inaccuracies
Although the scenes of Nazi burning books were visually dramatic, the scenes were set in 1938 and it actually happened in 1933.
We really loved the film, but we still can’t forgive it for not accurately depicting history.
