Continents Apart
Before we delve into Kournikova’s amazing road to success, it’s important to understand that it was her career that led her to where she would meet the love of her life.
To say that the two lovebirds found each other easily would be an understatement. While Enrique Iglesias was born in Spain, Madrid, Anna Kournikova was born all way in Moscow, Russia (formerly part of the Soviet Union).
But, for completely different reasons, the two of them somehow found themselves becoming residents of Miami, Florida early in their lives. Little did they know, that each decision and turn that they would make in their career paths would eventually lead their hearts to cross paths, as well.
Athletics in Her Genes
Similar to how Enrique Iglesias has music in his genes, being the son of successful singer-songwriter Julio Iglesias, Anna Kournikova also had professional sport talents running in her family.
Anna Kournikova was born on June 7, 1981, to two highly athletic parents – Greco-Roman wrestling champion and martial arts instructor, Sergei Kournikova, and 400-meter marathon runner, Alla. So, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that eventually, Anna found herself falling in love with sports, too.
But she actually revealed to Jimmy Fallon that it wasn’t necessarily herself who found a love of sports, but it was more that sports had found its own uniquely cultural way into her life.
