Dealing With a Big Loss
In 2014, Chris Pratt received tragic news on the set of Jurassic World – his father had passed. “I compartmentalized it all and dealt with it in my own way, but not openly for people to see. I got pretty angry and got drunk and almost got in a fight with a drug dealer outside of my hotel room,” he later shared.
Chris was going through a lot of difficulties on his own, and as Anna was away and experiencing her own bout of self doubt, the two began to drift apart.
A Year Later
Following his father’s death, Pratt became ever more reclusive and closed off. It took him a year to be able to open up about the relationship he had with his father. He revealed how his dad was an old-fashioned man who believed in toughness. “Part of us appreciate that he made us tough, you know, through sort of emotional scarification. Just an old school kind of dad. Which in a way is actually a good thing,” he said.
