He Couldn’t Follow Her
It took Faris a long time, until 2014, before she could openly discuss what went wrong in her first marriage. Apparently, things went downhill when Indra’s career simply stopped. He spent 12 years without landing a role and the divide between the two of them “became too great,” Faris says.
It makes sense, when you think about it; marriages are supposed to be borne of equality, and when both partners are in the same field, but one sees great success while the other stays in place, it can cause resentment.
Divorce and Success
Once Faris divorced Indra, her career started to really take off. Without her ex-husband holding her back, she began to appear in more and more movies, starting with House Bunny in 2008 and continuing with five movies in 2009. With her career back on track, she agreed to pay her ex-husband $900,000 along with dividing the rest of their wealth between them in a fair agreement.
Break ups are always hard, especially when there’s a lot of money involved, but the heart wants what the heart wants!
