From Friendship to Marriage
Let’s face it, long distance is hard. Not impossible, but hard.
Shelton and Lambert were facing much more than just distance in their way, though. Being a musician and achieving your dream is rewarding on so many levels, but that doesn’t make it easy.
Before they got married, they struggled with schedule issues and spending enough time together.
Giving up on the battle and splitting up was something that crossed their minds multiple times, yet they seemed to always find a way to overcome it. They deeply loved each other and felt that being together with incredibly demanding careers and dreams was worth it.
In 2011, they took things to the next level and had a beautiful wedding in Texas. But their marriage wouldn’t last long, and the two aren’t afraid to share their thoughts about it all.
From The Perfect Duet to Two Solo Acts
Ultimately, the battle that the happy country couple had to fight against while they were dating, trailed alongside them during their marriage. Back in their 2011 interview with Behind the Music, Lambert commented on the hardships of overcoming their time apart together and that as amazing their love story was, they “definitely were not a fairy tale.”
Lambert and Shelton spent their time together on their ranch in Oklahoma when they could, but with both of their careers blowing up, they barely got to see each other as often as they would have liked. So eventually all of it had caught up to them, and the perfect duet had made the decision to transition into two solo acts.
