Funneling Money
“I found a loophole in the company policy that allowed me to take unlimited paid time off. I abused it, taking long vacations every few weeks and barely working. My colleagues were suspicious but I didn’t care. That is until the day I showed up at work and found the doors locked. I called my boss and found out the company had gone bankrupt and everyone had been laid off.
As I went through my emails, I realized my colleagues had been warning upper management to fix their contract to keep them afloat. Apparently, I hadn’t been the only one abusing the policy—clients had been using a different loophole to drain the budget. The company couldn’t keep up and their entire budget had been drained within a few weeks.”
Regular Customer
U/hydra3a: “There is a department store downtown in my city. Parking downtown is a scarce, and expensive, so the dept store offers free parking to customers. The trick is to park at the dept store, quickly buy a belt or something, do whatever you wanted to do downtown, then at a later date (or later that day even) go back and return the item.
If you frequently/regularly did this, you could return an item and buy a new one in a single trip each time you do this. All while getting free parking downtown for spending a few minutes in the store.”
