Spreading the Word
Widetich moved into the animal shelter for many reasons, as we know. She wanted to give Drools some extra company, to learn his special requirements for how to look after him best, and she wanted to find the right person to take him to his forever home.
But what she didn’t realize was that her selfless actions also had a ripple effect.
Her social media posts didn’t just raise awareness of Drools’ plight—but also attention grew for the animal shelter itself.
Thanks to their heightened exposure, they managed to find homes for three more of their longest-standing doggie residents!
Looking Forward
Of course, as news spread of this miraculous doggo and his happy-ever-after, more and more TV and news stations wanted to speak to the woman behind it all, Kacey Widetich.
However, in every interview Widetich displayed her characteristic selflessness, focusing on how they could use the publicity to help even more pups.
“We were able to establish relationships with several rescues across the country to help move longtime dogs out of the shelter and into foster homes,” she said to KRDO, focusing on the dogs’ happiness rather than her own achievement.
