Bowing Out
Alex Rodriguez’s return to form in 2015 proved to his fans and detractors alike that his passion and talent still remained second to none in the baseball world.
However, the following year he returned to the field without the same sort of levels of energy and skill, failing to capture the glory and achievements that had characterized his career to date.
A-Rod was still one of baseball’s greats, but there was no denying age was catching up with him and it was soon time to retire.
And in August 2016, he confirmed that he would be retiring as a player and instead becoming a special adviser to the Yankees squad.
Emotional Goodbye
The baseball world was amazed and emotional when the time finally came to say goodbye to their beloved A-Rod. Of course, he wasn’t leaving the sporting world behind completely, but his days as a player were soon to be behind him.
Rodriguez’s last game for the Yankees was on August 12, 2016, after an emotional pregame ceremony honoring him and his career-wide achievements.
Despite the ups and downs and allegations of cheating, A-Rod certainly left his playing career on a high.
