Because every place has its own unique environment and circumstances, locals often come up with innovative ways to solve everyday problems. Unfortunately, those very same items might seem mysterious if you are new to that particular area.
This user discovered this yellow thing, and all they could tell was that it was made of aluminum and it was on lots of telephones in south-east Pennsylvania. Actually, they are yellow mesh objects called grid reflectors, and they are used to help motorists see and avoid utility poles. Glad we got that figured out.

This is yet another item that you could see on the set of your favorite science-fiction television or movie. It looks like something that could have very nefarious purposes, like a hidden bunker for dictators. Or it could just be something completely benign.
The only information the original poster was able to give was that it was a two-lane road being repaired, and they saw this section dug out. Turns out it is actually used for stormwater retention so that the sewers weren’t overwhelmed. Who could have guessed?
