Keeping Her Eye on the Prize
Surprisingly enough, Patrick’s career did the opposite of taking a huge hit after this crash. But that’s the great thing about her! She keeps her eye on the prize and doesn’t let anything or anyone stop her from doing what she wants or what she loves.
And because of her determination and drive, Patrick was about to make some ground-breaking history in the most unexpected way that very same year. “[The crash] was disappointing, though, I mean it would have been great to get a top ten on my first IndyCar race. But that’s okay because a couple races later I nearly won,” she confessed during the NTT IndyCar Series interview.
Blow the World Away
The 2005 Indy competitions were far from over, and two months later, it was time for Patrick’s very first Indy 500 Race. The whole reason why the race is called the Indy “500” or “300”, is because that’s how many miles each racer has to drive during the competitions. For the Indy 500, the drivers race a total of 200 laps, counterclockwise around the track.
And the incredible Danica Patrick was just about to blow the world away by her impressive tricks on the tracks!
