Right Before Danica’s Big Break
It was only two years later, in 2004, when Danica learned she would finally be able to compete in the Indy 500 the next year. “I was very happy. I mean, and I was caught off guard. And I was everything I needed,” Patrick emotionally revealed during an interview with NTT IndyCar Series in 2011.
Racing takes more than just talent and skill. It takes patience, passion, tranquility, and a whole lot of desire for danger. There was no question that the daring Danica had the potential to be a truly amazing racer, but now she finally would have a chance at turning her potential to trophies.
Starting Out with a Crash
This upcoming year was a revolutionary one for the talented and freshly-desired driver, but there were a lot of ups and downs that came along with it.
For starters, Patrick didn’t have the smoothest start to her professional racing career. In 2005, she was getting ready for and the season’s opening competition, and her very first IndyCar Series race, the 2005 Toyota Indy 300 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
However, during the race, some things started to spiral out of control, and ended up with a multiple-car crash.
