Not Just a Driver
When she wasn’t busy on the racing tracks, Danica actually dabbled in a few other things, too. Considering the fact that she had such diverse dreams as a child, it shouldn’t be surprising that she had other interests growing up. One of them being cheerleading for her high school sports teams, and also babysitting in her spare time.
But even if she wasn’t competing year-round, what it really came down to was that fact she couldn’t get her mind off the tracks. And even though the family didn’t move to California, fortunately enough, Danica’s parents were still right there with her, supporting her while she chased her dreams.
A Well-Oiled Support System
Especially when you’re in your adolescence, it’s great when your parents have your back when chasing your dreams. But Danica’s parents weren’t just standing there along the sidelines cheering her own – they were there to help her win!
Her father was her “Crew Chief”, the driver’s racing coach, as well as, the person in charge of the pit stops during the race – for changing tires, refueling, doing other maintenance on the car, etc., while her mother kept track of all of Danica’s stats.
Looks like their original idea of finding a family bonding activity really worked out. Little did they know that this was going to be so much more than that.
