A Family Bonding Activity
Danica Patrick and her younger sister, Brooke, were both born to Terry Joseph “T. J.” Patrick Jr. and Beverly Ann (née Flaten). In the early ‘90s, their loving parents were trying to figure out what type of fun activity the four of them could all participate and bond over.
Originally their parents were thinking about getting a boat, but their daring daughters had another type of vehicle in mind. After trying out a friend’s go-kart, Brooke had an itch to trying out go-karting herself, and soon Danica felt the same, too.
Falling Faster than Driving for the Finish Line
When Danica was 10 years old, and her sister Brooke was 8 years old, their parents bought them go-karts. How cool! From there, Danica fell in love with racing faster than she could make it across the finish line. And over the years, her love and passion transitioned into a desire to start competing.
As time went on, she started to improve on all levels, especially with her foot and eye coordination. She even wanted to move to California when she was 13 to be able to compete year-round. But that was just the beginning.
