From Patient to Girlfriend
Focusing on her career wasn’t the only thing Danica was up to in the mid-2000s. In fact, before she got her big break, she met her future husband, Paul Edward Hospenthal, in 2002.
Hospenthal was a dapper physical therapist for high-end athletes, who treated her for an injury when the two met. Eventually they transitioned from a relationship of therapist-patient to dating, but it seemed like the two were sharp on the doctor-patient confidentiality code throughout their relationship, considering that they kept their relationship pretty private from the public.
Bride-to-Be
Remember how earlier we mentioned that 2005 was full of all sorts of ups and downs for Danica? Well, along with “Rookie of the Year” and “Most Popular Driver”, Danica also added “Bride-to-Be” to her titles for the year.
That’s right, in 2005, three years after she first met Hospenthal, the two lovebirds happily tied the knot!
And even though the couple seemed to keep their relationship away from the press and public – respectfully so as Patrick’s celebrity status was high-profile by the time they got married – it was clear that Paul was an important person to her.
