Staying True to Wonder Woman by Saying “No”
Lynda Carter had always loved her involvement with the character of Wonder Woman, and never tried to distance herself from it. Why, then, did she reject Patty Jenkins’ offer to take part in what was sure to be an epic, iconic take on the character for a new generation?
The truth is, Carter would have loved to take part in the film – but couldn’t. She had prior obligations.
By 2016, Lynda Carter had returned to her first passion; music. She was, once again, recording albums and touring with her band – and that left her no time to take part in shooting the movie.
She had no time to be nostalgic, because her life at present was so full.
A Resounding Success
2017’s Wonder Woman was a huge success. The film reignited interest in the character, and brought it to levels that were never before seen. Wonder Woman was, once again, a role model to live up to – and both Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins credited Carter with helping turn the character into what it was, and inspiring and informing their work.
But it wasn’t just Jenkins and Gadot that were appreciative of Carter following the movie’s success.
