Lynda Carter, a Real-Life Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot

When Gal Gadot was asked about Patty Jenkins’ take on the new Wonder Woman movie, she said that “for a long time, people didn’t know how to approach the story. When Patty and I had our creative conversations about the character, we realized that Diana can still be a normal woman, one with very high values, but still a woman. She can be sensitive. She is smart and independent and emotional. She can be confused. She can lose her confidence. She can have confidence. She is everything. She has a human heart.”

This was great news to the fans, because more than anything, this was true to the original Wonder Woman concept.

A Meeting at the United Nations

After Patty Jenkins took the reins of the Wonder Woman movie, things began to move quickly.

In 2016, before the film began shooting, Gal Gadot, Patty Jenkins and Lynda Carter all met at a special event at the United Nations, where the character of Wonder Woman was being celebrated as a champion of women’s rights – along with the women who had helped bring her to life over the years.

Carter and Jenkins hit it off right away, and quickly bonded. They soon realized something amazing: they shared the same birthday, July 24.

It was then that Jenkins offered Carter a cameo on the movie – an offer that Carter rejected.
