DC Comics Regular
In 2016, Lynda Carter began making regular appearances in another DC Comics television show; this time, on the CW’s Supergirl.
Taking on the role of U.S. President Olivia Marsdin, Carter felt right at home portraying a strong female role model on the small screen once again, this time alongside Melissa Benoist and Calista Flockhart.
But while she had returned to DC Comics’ universe, she would not appear in the Wonder Woman film that would be released just a year later.
The Wonder Woman Movie
While the show, Wonder Woman, was discontinued in 1978, interest in the character never waned. In fact, it only grew stronger as the years went by. In 1996, development of a Wonder Woman movie began. Various actors and directors were attached to the project, including Joss Whedon, Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale and Sandra Bullock.
But the movie was stuck in production limbo until 2015, when director Patty Jenkins arrived on the scene with a clear artistic vision, following the casting of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice epic.
