Fifty Who Made DC Great
Lynda Carter’s influence on the character of Wonder Woman wasn’t just limited to TV fans. In 1985, a mere ten years after the show first aired, Carter was honored by DC in the publication of the Fifty Who Made DC Great comic thanks to her work on the show. Years later, DC continued to honor Carter with a limited release 13-inch full-figure statue of her as Wonder Woman, which quickly sold out.
And yet, Carter didn’t even make a cameo in the new Wonder Woman film.
Despite her lasting influence and success as Diana Prince, in 1978, the show was cancelled – and Lynda found herself, once more, seeking direction in her life.
Meeting Mr. Right
Despite Wonder Woman having ended, Lynda continued to be successful as the face of Maybelline. In 1982, a mere four years after Wonder Woman went off the air, Maybelline hosted a dinner in her honor. It was there that she met Robert A. Altman – who, at the time, worked as a lawyer for Maybelline’s parent company.
The two hit it off immediately, and soon, their relationship got serious. By 1984, they were married.
It was then that Lynda had to make a difficult decision.
