Amazing Charisma
The Rock was one of the first pro wrestlers to become a crossover superstar, and his amazing success was fueled by his infinite charisma. He was a great speaker who gave us one amazing catchphrase after another, and they became so popular that he started earning good buck through merchandising.
He was also one of the wrestlers who helped usher the WWE into the record-breaking “Attitude Era” which led to wider surge in the popularity of professional wrestling around the world. Many wrestling records for television ratings were set during this period.
So everything was finally looking good for him. But how did he make the move the acting?
Acting Debut
Johnson gave acting a shot by making guest appearances on That ’70s Show and Star Trek: Voyager, but his life turned upside down when the call from Saturday Night Live came in.
He was invited to host the popular sketch show alongside music guest AC/DC and it was an offer he couldn’t refuse. Fellow wrestlers Mick Foley, Triple H, and The Big Show made an appearance by his side, but The Rock was still the main attraction. His episode was such a huge hit, that offers from Hollywood executives quickly started pouring in.
