Dwayne Johnson is known to be the tough guy, but he’s quite sentimental and truly cherishes his ancestry and family.

In 2003, at 30 years old, he decided to get a beautiful, continuous chest and arm tattoo representing just that. His Samoan Pe’a tattoo is just as elaborate and intricate as the story behind it, and he has claimed that it symbolizes everything he’s passionate about, loves, and what’s overall important to him.

The highly-detailed design took the famous Tahitian tattoo artist, Po’oino Yrondi a total of 60 hours to complete! The Rock endured three separate 20-hour sessions—looks like beauty really is pain, sometimes.

Dwayne Johnson’s College Dream

He started out his career as a star athlete, but The Rock was up to so much more than athletics back in his high school days.

“Fun fact: in college, my goal was to eventually work for the CIA. Until my criminal justice professor and advisor (Dr. Paul Cromwell) convinced me that the best operative I could become for the agency is one that also had a law degree,” Johnson wrote on a TBT Instagram post of himself in college at age 22.

He continued on to explain that even though going to law school sounded like a great idea, he didn’t seem to have a high enough academic record to pursue this dream.

But it’s clear now that fate had something much different at play, anyway.
