Hard Times
Dwayne, who wasn’t exactly a model child, didn’t make things any easier for his mother with his behavior. During his teenage years, Johnson had several run-ins with the police because he was always getting into fights and even became a part of a theft ring in Waikiki.
Once the family moved to Nashville, many of his classmates avoided him because, due to his stature, they thought he’s an undercover cop but this was obviously far from the truth.
Luckily, things started looking up for him once he decided to pursue a different path – a career in the NFL.
Football Scholarship
When he turned 18, it seemed like Johnson’s dream may become a reality. He got one stepped closer to making it when he received a full football scholarship from the University of Miami and became the only freshman to make the team. Unfortunately, he sustained several serious injuries and his parents were disappointed when he came back home without even taking his midterms.
He eventually decided to get his act together, and graduated four years later with a bachelor’s degree in criminology and physiology.
