While Baena was attending college, Arnold Schwarzenegger was more than happy to pay his way, so he could focus on getting an education without financial stress. With estimates of a net worth of around $450 million dollars, according to Parade, he can certainly afford it.
But once college ended, that financial support stopped. “I’m really grateful that my dad helped me get through college. But right when college was done, it was just like, ‘You go. You’re on your own,’” Baena told Unwaxed. While this was a huge change in his life, Baena’s reaction wasn’t what you’d expect.
No Resentment
Instead of feeling anger or resentment towards his father for cutting off major financial resources, Baena felt gratitude. After all, his dad allowed him to go to college without having to worry about working at the same time as studying to be able to afford it—something he didn’t take for granted.
“My dad is old-school; he doesn’t believe in handouts. He believes hard work pays off, and so do I… if I use my dad’s contacts or ask him for favors, I wonder what honor is that gonna bring me?” Baena told Men’s Health.
