This super powered movie making duo first rose to fame as the directors of the incredibly successful The Matrix movie franchise, before both coming out as trans women.
Though both famously reclusive, Lana Wachowski made a notable exception when she spoke at the Human Rights Campaign’s annual dinner.
“I am here because when I was young, I wanted very badly to be a writer, I wanted to be a filmmaker, but I couldn’t find anyone like me in the world,” she said. “It felt like my dreams were foreclosed simply because my gender was less typical than others. If I can be that person for someone else, then the sacrifice of my private civic life may have value.
Jazz Jennings
One of the youngest celeb personalities to make our list, Jazz Jennings has made a real name for herself as a prominent and popular YouTube personality.
After gaining fame on the social media site, she began starring in the TLC reality TV show I am Jazz, where she opens up about her experiences of being a trans teenager.
As well as bringing awareness of trans issues to a new generation, Jennings has also established two charitable organizations in aid of the LGBTQ+ community: TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation and Purple Rainbow Tails.
