The Issue Was the Kidney
Sharing multiple organs was problematic for Maliyah and Kendra, but it was the kidney that caused the biggest issue. Kendra explained on the twins’ YouTube channel, “There was only one kidney for the both of us and that’s really dangerous because one kidney can’t hold two people.”
The Herrin parents knew there was a risk of the twins dying regardless of if they were kept together or separated. And in the end, they made the difficult decision.
