Making a Tough Decision
Medical experts and surgical teams are increasingly more capable of successfully separating conjoined twins. Still, the Herrins found it difficult to decide between two situations that could have life-altering or even threatening outcomes for their four-year-old children.
“We went to a lot of different doctors, psychologists, anything I could take them to just to make sure that they were ready and it wouldn’t harm them… You have to make sure that it’s the right thing for them,” Erin Herrin explained to BBC Three. But in the end, there was one thing that made the decision a bit easier.
