Stolen Goods
Unfortunately, one of the perils of working in the pawn business is that people will quite often try to bring in stolen goods to get money for them while also getting rid of the evidence.
And this happened on Pawn Stars too, when Harrison paid $40,000 for a pair of diamond earrings, which later were revealed to be stolen. The thief got his comeuppance and some jail time, and the original owner got her earrings back, but unfortunately Harrison did not get the $40k back. That’s just the nature of the business, Harrison said to NPR.
