During Simpson’s early years, he seemed to be getting himself into quite a spot of bother and going down a dark path towards a life of crime and violence. And it would be an unlikely hero who would turn up to set him on a path towards a Brighter future—none other than baseball star Willie Mays.
Mays met with Simpson after he had been arrested for a third time, and managed to persuade him that a life in sports would be better than a life of crime. Little did he know, he’d one day go on to pursue both.
