The world was amazed when O.J. Simpson was acquired of the murders of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman. Many people believed that it was truly obvious he was guilty, and it was simply his vast amounts of money that allowed him to pay for the legal team that eventually helped him squeeze out of punishment.
But this evasion of justice wouldn’t last for long, as a new civil court ruling in 1997 found him responsible for their deaths, and ordered him to pay $33.5 million. But Simpson didn’t pay—instead moving to Miami to avoid the charges.
