What Happened?
As time went by, the Farris family had to come up with their own theories as to what happened to Janet. They figured that she must have swerved off the road to avoid an animal or an accident. Perhaps she had fallen asleep at the wheel on the long, winding drive.
However, there was no way of knowing what had really happened to her and it pained the family to imagine her final moments.
The Accident
Because of the location of the car in the lake, it wasn’t hard to see how the accident had happened. Back in the ’90s, the stretch of the Trans-Canadian Highway closest to Griffin Lake had been much narrower than it was now.
Plus there weren’t cement barricades separating vehicles from the steep embankment. It would have been all too easy to lose control of a vehicle when swerving to avoid an animal and end up in the lake. But could they be sure it had been an accident?
