Who Was She?

Because of the license plate, it wasn’t long before the RCMP was able to identify the deceased driver. Her name was Janet Farris, a 69-year-old woman from Vancouver Island. She had gone missing in the fall of 1992, a whopping 27 years before the car was discovered and 14 years before Max was born.

Police couldn’t believe that the cold case had finally been solved. No one had ever been able to uncover what had happened to Farris all those years ago and now they had found her.

The Wedding

Janet Farris had been driving from her home on Vancouver Island to a wedding in Alberta by herself when she went missing. She left her home in Mill Bay on October 1st and stayed overnight in White Rock at her sister’s house. Credit-card records show she stopped to fill up at a gas station west of Salmon Arm.

However, that’s where evidence of Farris’ journey stops. There were no more records of her stopping at services or CCTV footage of her vehicle. It was as if she had disappeared into thin air.
